Urban Camo Project

Aaron Larney is a BA Graphic Design graduate from the school of Central Saints Martina; in London, England. Aaron focuses on taking modern looking pictures, such as graffiti design, technology inspired, and general camouflage in urban scenes. His pictures were really interesting to me, especially his camouflage scenes. He makes them look completely apart of what the background is, which takes a ton of time and precise details.

I really liked this picture. This was taken for a restraunt logo, so he took some of the vegetables and burned the letters onto them, to spell out the name! I chose this because it is very unique, and a great idea.

This was one of my favourite pictures. He put a guy standing infront of the wall, then spraypainted over him, and the wall; so the guy was invisible. I picked this, because I thought it was the most realistic.
This picture was really interesting; and unique. He turned a DVD Case, into an iMac looking computer, with all of the buttons, holes, etc. I picked it because it was super unique, and I have never seen anything like this before.

MusicCover Assignment!

For my MusicCover Assignment, I took a picture of myself kicking Dylan, and myself by a trashcan. I then chose  "Eye of the Tiger" for the 1st picture, as it is a "fighting" song, and "Trash" by Slash for the 2nd one, as it relates to trash.

HDR Photograph Assignment

For my HDR Photo assignments, I took pictures of regular objects and logos that we don't usually pay much attention too. I first took three photos with 1/4 , 1/40 and 1/160; I then merged them together in Photoshop, and adjusted the Gamma/Exposure to make it less blurry. I tried to make the main object obvious, as the point in my theme was to showcase things we usually just look past.

WHAT: HDR, or High Dynamic Imagery is which allows a greater dynamic range between light and darkness. HDR was discovered in the 1850s by Gustave Le Gray, who rendered seascapes to show both Sea, and Sky.

HOW: Taking HDR Photos is easy, as many newer cameras have settings built in to make it extremely easy. The easiest way is to set your ISO to its lowest possible setting, use aperture priority mode, then take three photos of the exact same thing at different EV levels, then combine them with Photoshop. Another way would be to take a picture of the object at different times of day, when the brightness is different. However without some sort of PhotoShop, or editing program, it is very hard to do HDR; as you need to combine the three images into one.

Jan Von Hollben

During this project, we had to take pictures of people from a higher point of view, to make it look like you are taking a regular picture. For my pictures, I took the bench in the HUB, and flipped it on its back, then had Connor sit, and talk on his phone. For the other image, I put a chair on its side, and had Sara sit in it, like she was sitting in a chair regularly. I cropped just the objects of the picture, to get rid of the negative space. I also had to rotate one of the 90˚CCW as it was taken sideways.

Jan von Holleben was born in 1977, in Cologne; Germany. At 13 years old, Jan started to follow after his fathers carrer (photographer), and started to experiment with cameras. After pursuing studies in teaching children with disabilities, he moved to London, and got a degree in Photography, and began his career in photographing the scenes in, and around London.

I chose this photo from Jan van Hollebens portfolio, because I think this one looks real. The creativity for the items used is really interesting.

I chose this photo, because I really like the movie King Kong; the only thing I don't like is; I wish he had more of a background, that looked like New York, or a city, It would probably be quite difficult, considering the technique he uses to create these, but it would add tons more to the picture.

This was probably one of my favorites, the Tarzan looking scene is surprisingly realistic, however like the New York picture, I think the background would have looked better if he used a jungle type of scene.

Hipster Effect

In this area, we had to go around and take pictures, usually with a form of light. Then we edited in LightLeaks, and edited features in it to make it look more Hipster.

Photographic ABC

In this assignment, we had to go around taking pictures of objects that resemble letter from the alphabet. The common letters such as "I" , "O" , "A" were fairly easy to find, however letters such as "G" were almost impossible to find.
